ifmc consists of an interdisciplinary group of professionals with in-depth knowledge in Tropical Forest Resource Management. Equipped with long-term practical experience in both tropical forest management and forest research, our team comprises Tropical Foresters, Project Managers, Environmental Engineers, Economists, Ecologists, Sociologists, Resource Management Specialists, Information, Communication & Technology (ICT) Experts, Geographers, and Scientists covering various other disciplines in the field of tropical forestry.

Our Vision and Commitment

The ifmc expert team is concerned about our planet's conservation and sustainable use of its limited resources. Global population growth, coupled with continuous industrial development has led to an ever increasing consumption of natural resources on earth, including its forest ecosystems. Political strategies of leading people and their national economies towards sustainable development goals will only be successful if the resources on earth are managed in a responsible way. We are convinced that renewable natural resources - such as forest ecosystems - can be managed sustainably for the benefit of present and future generations. A viable balance is necessary between the diverging interests of conservation and utilisation as well as economic and societal needs.

How we work

Depending on the clients' needs ifmc offers consultancy services through either individual expert inputs, or through working teams composed to meet more complex demands. We are convinced of the collaborative team approach, in providing high quality results and solutions to forest resource management tasks. Our services can be contracted for short periods up to several months, whatever is required to complete the assignment to our customers' satisfaction. We also offer consulting services on the basis of backstopping agreements, with clearly defined inputs at pre-arranged schedules. Another option is to work on contract rates for clients preferring lump sum fees covering specific job tasks with a single payment.

Beyond its immediate expert pool, ifmc also has formed strategic alliances with other natural resource consultants for the mutual exchange of experts and technical services, information and professional opinions. Our customers' benefit from this cooperation lies in the permanent access to qualified personnel, even in times of high occupancy.

Maintaining contact to research organisations provides an excellent opportunity to feed-back latest results of applied research to our pool of experts.
